PhotoTreks:

Beyond Angkor

A travel photography adventure
25 July – 1 August 2023
history runs deep in the land of the khmers.

From the proud era of an ancient empire to the recent carnage of a nation in turmoil, the story of Cambodia is anything but ordinary. Discover this awe-inspiring legacy through our action-packed shooting adventure. PhotoTreks: Beyond Angkor will be a photographic exploration of Khmer history and culture. Join international photographers Lester V. Ledesma and Sang Kimleng as we document the timeless landscapes, colors and people of this beautiful land. From the capital Phnom Penh we will head off the beaten track to explore spectacular mountain ruins, ancient royal burial grounds and even a little-known island in the middle of the mighty Mekong.

We’ll also cross the countryside to Siem Reap, where we will bask in the centuries-old remnants of Angkor. There will be fishing villages, gilded temples and fog-covered paddies to shoot, and lots of interesting people to meet.

Go beyond eye-candy photography and learn to take telling, culturally sensitive travel imagery of real subjects and real-life situations. Your PhotoTrek hosts have covered Cambodia for decades, and know this country like the backs of their LCD’s.

Choose your own adventure:

THE PEARL OF ASIA  (PHP27,000): Phnom Penh bursts with local color amidst a backdrop of gilded temples and ornate colonial mansions. This 3-day adventure takes you around the Cambodian capital and the little-known shooting spots in the provinces of Ta Keo and Kandal. Travelers who skip this region are missing a LOT. For participants who land in Phnom Penh and have limited time, this option is recommended.

ANGKOR AND BEYOND (PHP63,000):  Take the adventure further with this extension that goes deeper into the Kingdom of the Khmers. We’ll travel by land towards Siem Reap to explore Angkor’s hidden temples along with its must-see ruins. This 8-day itinerary offers plenty of new and exciting experiences for both first-timers and the returning travelers to Cambodia.

Angkor and Beyond may also be joined as a standalone tour for participants who are flying in via Siem Reap. In which case the fee for this 4-day program is PHP36,000.

OUR PHOTOTREK HOSTS:
